Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 May 2026

Hallel Community (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use hallelcommunity.com and related services, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights under applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act framework where it applies.

1. Who we are

Hallel Community is a Christian community organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

2. Data we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity and contact data: name, email address, phone number, and similar details when you register for events, the Music Academy, choir applications, donations, volunteering, or contact forms.
  • Payment data: transaction references, amounts, and limited payment metadata processed by our payment partners. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and cookies or similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).
  • Content you submit: audition links, messages, registration information, and other materials you choose to provide.

3. How we use your data

We use personal data to:

  • Process registrations, tickets, donations, and academy enrolment.
  • Communicate confirmations, reminders, and important service updates.
  • Operate check-in, safety, and capacity management at events.
  • Improve our website, content, and community programmes.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect our community.

4. Legal bases (where applicable)

We rely on performance of a contract (for example, ticketing or academy registration), legitimate interests (secure operations and community communication), consent (marketing emails and non-essential cookies where required), and legal obligation where the law requires us to retain or disclose information.

5. Third-party processors

We use reputable service providers, including (depending on configuration):

  • Paystack — payment processing for donations, tickets, and academy fees.
  • Brevo — transactional and newsletter email delivery.
  • Cloudinary or similar storage — hosting uploaded media such as images and documents.

These providers process data on our instructions and under their own privacy terms. We do not sell your personal data.

6. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, and operational requirements. Choir applications, academy records, and donation receipts may be retained for defined periods to meet auditing and programme needs.

7. Your rights

You may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion where applicable, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Withdraw consent for marketing (for example, unsubscribe from our newsletter).
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority where the law allows.

To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable period.

8. International transfers

Some processors may be located outside Nigeria. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards such as contractual clauses recognised under applicable regulations.

9. Security

We implement administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect your data. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords for any accounts we provide.

10. Children

Our services are not directed to children without appropriate parental involvement. If you believe we have collected data from a minor improperly, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes notice of the updated policy where permitted by law.

12. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
